About Tetris (japan)
I first played Tetris on the Sega Genesis in 1988, a version published by Sega themselves. It arrived early in the system's life, a straightforward port of a game that was quickly becoming a global phenomenon. On a console that would later be defined by fast action and colorful graphics, this was a simpler, more focused kind of challenge.
You control a series of geometric shapes, called Tetriminos, as they descend from the top of the screen. Your objective is to rotate and shift these falling pieces to create solid horizontal lines without any gaps. When you complete a line, it vanishes, you score points, and the blocks above fall down to fill the space. The core mechanics are this constant rotation and positioning, with the game's pace gradually increasing as you clear more lines, making the pieces drop faster and faster. The tension builds with every new piece, creating a race against the rising stack. It feels like a constant, escalating battle against the screen filling up.
