Test Drive II - The Duel is one of those early racing games that somehow nails the thrill of speeding down winding roads without overcomplicating things. You pick from a handful of real-world sports cars—Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini—and just go. No fancy power-ups, no rubber-banding AI, just you, the open road, and the occasional cop trying to ruin your fun.
The handling’s a little slidey, especially in the rain, but once you get the hang of it, weaving through traffic at 150 mph feels surprisingly satisfying. The scenery’s basic by today’s standards, but back then, those desert highways and mountain passes felt huge. And yeah, the cops are relentless—if you don’t watch your mirrors, they’ll bust you before you hit third gear.
It’s pure, simple racing with just enough tension to keep you white-knuckling the controller. Still holds up if you’re into old-school arcade-style driving.
