Technocop on the Genesis is one of those early '90s action games that feels like it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be a side-scrolling shooter or a beat-em-up. You play as a cybernetic cop blasting through waves of criminals, and yeah, the controls are a little stiff—but there’s something weirdly satisfying about the way enemies explode into pixelated gibs when you hit them just right.
The first level throws you straight into a neon-lit city with thugs popping out of alleys, and your best bet is to just keep moving while spamming shots. The soundtrack’s got that classic Genesis bass growl, and the sprite work is surprisingly detailed for 1990. It’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into short, chaotic runs with a retro vibe, it’s got its moments.
