Super Volleyball on the Genesis is one of those early sports games that somehow nails the chaotic fun of beach volleyball without taking itself too seriously. You pick your team—I always went for the neon pink jerseys—and suddenly you're diving all over the pixelated sand, barely keeping the ball in play. The controls are simple (one button for everything), but timing your spikes just right actually feels satisfying.
Matches get surprisingly intense, especially against a friend. There’s this weird charm to how the players flop around after a missed shot, and the crowd cheers sound like they were recorded in someone’s basement. It’s not exactly realistic, but who cares when you’re too busy laughing at your own terrible dives? If you dig old-school arcade-style sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
