Super Thunder Blade was one of those early Genesis games that looked amazing in screenshots but played... well, let's just say it had its quirks. You're dumped straight into a chopper with this weird mix of behind-the-copter and top-down views, blasting tanks and dodging missiles that come at you way faster than they should. The controls take some getting used to - that helicopter physics feels like you're piloting a drunk bumblebee at first.
It's got that classic arcade vibe where you'll die a lot before figuring out the patterns, especially on the later levels where everything just decides to shoot at you at once. The music slaps though - that Sega synth bass hits hard while you're weaving between skyscrapers. Not gonna lie, it's janky by today's standards, but there's something satisfying about finally nailing that tight canyon run after ten tries.
If you're into punishing retro flight shooters where you earn every inch of progress, this one's got that old-school charm.
