Super Thunder Blade is one of those early Genesis games that looked mind-blowing in screenshots but played... well, let's just say it's got that classic "Sega tough" difficulty. You're in a chopper blasting through waves of tanks, jets, and turrets, but the controls take some getting used to—your helicopter drifts like it's on ice, and enemies come at you from all angles.
The first level throws you right into the chaos: buildings explode as you weave between them, missiles barely miss your tail, and that synth-heavy soundtrack kicks in hard. It's pure 80s arcade energy, even if you'll probably crash into a bridge pillar three times before figuring out the handling. Not gonna lie, the isometric sections are rough, but there's something satisfying about finally nailing a perfect run.
If you're into retro games that don't hold your hand, this one's a time capsule—just maybe keep the reset button handy.
