About Super Skidmarks
Super Skidmarks came out for the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive, in 1995, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that late period for the 16-bit consoles where developers were really pushing the hardware to its limits. You could find it on shelves alongside other arcade-style racers, but it had its own particular flavor that set it apart.
You control a top-down racing car, weaving through traffic and trying to win a series of cups. The main objective is straightforward: finish first. The signature mechanics are the drifting, which leaves thick, colored smoke trails on the track, and the weapon pickups you can use to disrupt other racers. The game moves at a frantic pace, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as you face more aggressive opponents. It feels chaotic and immediate, a constant battle for position where a single mistake can cost you the race.
