Man, Super Shinobi (or The Revenge of Shinobi if you're not playing the Japanese version) is still one of the slickest action games on the Genesis. You’re this ninja slicing through everything—military bases, neon-lit streets, even a freaking helicopter shows up at one point. The controls feel tight, and the shuriken throws just click in a way most games don’t get right.

And the music? Yuzo Koshiro went off—some tracks are this weird mix of synth and traditional Japanese vibes that somehow work perfectly when you’re mid-air dodging rockets. The later levels get brutal, though. I still remember getting wrecked by that spider boss way too many times before figuring out the pattern.

If you’ve got a Genesis lying around, this one’s a must-play.
