About Super Real Basketball
Super Real Basketball came out for the Sega Genesis, known as the Mega Drive in some regions, in 1990. It was developed by Aicom and published by Sega, arriving during a period when the console was building its library of sports titles. This game was part of that early wave, attempting to translate the flow of basketball into a 16-bit format.
You control a team of five players, switching between them to move the ball downcourt. The main objective is to outscore the opposing team by making baskets. Signature mechanics include a turbo button for bursts of speed and a context-sensitive action button that lets you steal the ball, block shots, or attempt a dunk depending on your position. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be steep, especially against aggressive computer defense that forces you to pass frequently. It feels like a fast, physical contest where a single turnover can quickly change the game.
