Super Bubble Bobble (China) (Unl) is one of those weird, bootleg-ish versions of the classic arcade game that somehow made it to the Genesis. It's still the same bubble-popping, enemy-trapping chaos you remember, but with some... let's call them "creative" changes. The music's a little off, the colors are weirdly bright, and Bub and Bob look like they've had one too many energy drinks.

That said, it's oddly charming in its jankiness. You still hop around blowing bubbles to trap enemies, then pop them for points—except now everything feels slightly faster and more chaotic. I swear some of the enemy patterns are different too, like someone remixed the original levels while half-awake.

If you're a Bubble Bobble purist, this might drive you nuts. But if you've played the original to death and want something that feels familiar yet just wrong enough to be interesting, give it a shot. Just don't expect it to replace the real thing.
