Strider II is one of those sequels that kinda does its own thing—it wasn't made by Capcom, but U.S. Gold took a swing at it in 1990. You still play as Hiryu, slashing through enemies with that iconic plasma sword, but the levels feel a bit different from the arcade original. The Genesis version's got some chunky sprites and that classic '90s action vibe, though the controls take a minute to get used to if you're coming straight from the first game.
First thing you'll notice? The music's still hype, and the stages throw some wild set pieces at you, like riding robotic animals or taking on screen-filling bosses. It's not as polished as Capcom's work, but there's a weird charm to it—especially if you're into that era of Sega ports. Just don't expect it to play exactly like the arcade Strider.
