About Strider Hiryuu
Strider Hiryuu came out for the Sega Genesis in 1990, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that early wave of games that really pushed what the 16-bit console could do visually. The arcade original was known for its huge sprites and fast action, and the Genesis version did a solid job of bringing that style home.
You control Hiryuu, a nimble ninja armed with a plasma sword called the Cypher. Your mission is to take down the evil Grandmaster Meio. The game is structured as a series of side-scrolling stages, each with its own distinct environment and set of enemies. Your primary tool is that Cypher; you can slash it in a wide arc to cut down foes from a distance, and you also have a selection of helper robots called Options that float alongside you, firing their own projectiles. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions and demanding quick reflexes. Navigating the stages requires careful platforming and learning enemy patterns to survive. It feels fast, fluid, and genuinely challenging in a way that makes every cleared screen a small victory.
