About Street Smart (japan, Usa)
Street Smart came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed and published by SNK. It was part of that early wave of games trying to bring the arcade experience home, a time when developers were experimenting with how to translate competitive action onto a home console.
You control one of two martial artists, either Buddy or Cobra, fighting through city streets and other urban locations. Your main goal is to defeat all the thugs in an area before moving on to the next screen, facing a boss at the end of each stage. The game blends side-scrolling beat 'em up action with one-on-one fighting game mechanics; you can perform special moves and throws, and the camera zooms in when you engage a single opponent. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies that attack aggressively. It feels like a rough but ambitious attempt to merge two popular genres into a single, chaotic brawl.
