Street Racer on the Genesis is one of those games that nails the arcade-style racing vibe—simple to pick up, but with just enough depth to keep you hooked. You start by picking your racer (I always went with the blue car, no idea why) and then you're immediately thrown into these bright, blocky city tracks where the turns come fast and the AI drivers love to nudge you into walls.
The handling feels a little slippery at first, but once you get the hang of drifting around corners without spinning out, it’s super satisfying. And yeah, the graphics are obviously dated now, but there’s something charming about the way the buildings and palm trees zip past in that classic 16-bit style.
Multiplayer’s where it really shines, though. Nothing like barely edging out a friend on the last lap while they’re yelling at you for cutting them off. Just don’t expect Forza-level realism—this is pure, old-school arcade chaos with a side of nostalgia.
