Oh man, Story of Thor—this was one of those Genesis RPGs that felt way ahead of its time. You play as this kid who gets pulled into a wild adventure after his dad, a legendary warrior, goes missing. The combat’s got this cool mix of hack-and-slash and magic, where you’re swinging swords one second and summoning elemental spirits the next.
What really stuck with me was the atmosphere. The pixel art’s gorgeous, with these moody forests and creepy dungeons that actually feel alive. And the music? Haunting. Like, you’ll be wandering through some ruins with this eerie melody in the background, and suddenly a skeleton army pops up. Classic 90s RPG tension.
It’s not perfect—the controls take some getting used to, and good luck figuring out some puzzles without a guide—but there’s something special about it. If you dig action RPGs with a darker vibe, this one’s a hidden gem.
