Oh man, Story of Thor (or Beyond Oasis if you're not in Germany) is one of those Genesis action-RPGs that just sticks with you. You start as this kid who finds a magic armlet, and suddenly you're summoning elemental spirits to fight alongside you—water, fire, shadow, all that good stuff. The combat feels weighty, like Zelda but with more punch, and the sprite work is gorgeous for a 16-bit game.
First ten minutes? You're running through lush forests, smacking skeletons with your sword, and figuring out how the spirit summons work (hint: water guy is your best friend early on). The dungeons get pretty creative later, mixing puzzles with those satisfying real-time battles. It's got that perfect balance of adventure and action that makes you wanna play "just one more area" before quitting.
Still holds up if you're into retro action-RPGs with a bit of depth.
