Steel Talons is one of those old-school helicopter shooters that makes you feel like you're barely holding the thing together while missiles scream past your cockpit. You start off just trying to keep your bearings—the controls take a second to click—but once you get the hang of banking hard to avoid anti-aircraft fire, it gets addictive fast.

The terrain actually matters here, too. Fly too low and you'll clip a mountain; hesitate for half a second and some tiny pixel tank will blast you out of the sky. It's got that classic Sega difficulty where you'll fail a mission three times before realizing you need to conserve missiles for the boss fight. Not gonna lie, the graphics are rough by today's standards, but there's something satisfying about how weighty the chopper feels when you're weaving through canyons.

If you miss the days when games didn't hold your hand, this one's a solid time capsule. Just don't throw your controller when the third stage ambush wrecks you out of nowhere.
