Stargate on the Genesis is one of those weird licensed games that kinda does its own thing—it's got the movie's name and some of the aesthetic, but don't expect a direct adaptation. You're basically running and gunning through Egyptian-themed levels, blasting alien enemies with this weird mix of sci-fi and ancient ruins. The controls are a little stiff, but once you get used to it, there's something oddly satisfying about mowing down those weird bug-like creatures.
Graphics are decent for the time, with some cool hieroglyphic backgrounds and chunky sprites. The music? Honestly forgettable, but the sound effects—especially the weapon noises—have that classic Genesis crunch. It's not gonna blow your mind, but if you're into '90s action-platformers with a weird twist, it's a solid time-waster. Just don't go in expecting deep lore or anything.
