Star Wars Ii : The Clone Battle Game

Star Wars II: The Clone Battle on Game Boy Color is one of those old-school handheld gems that somehow crammed the chaos of the Clone Wars into a tiny cartridge. You jump between Jedi, clones, and even droids—each with their own clunky-but-charming sprites—bashing through levels that feel like a condensed version of the prequel battles. The lightsaber combat’s basic (it’s a GBC, after all), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about chipping away at a Super Battle Droid with a pixelated green blade.
Don’t expect deep strategy, but the faction-switching keeps it interesting—one mission you’re mowing down droids as Mace Windu, the next you’re piloting a dinky Separatist tank. The music’s got that classic Star Wars chiptune vibe, and the sprite work actually nails the vibe of Kamino or Geonosis better than you’d think. It’s janky in places, but if you grew up with this era of Star Wars, it’s a nostalgia trip worth dusting off your Game Boy for.
