StarFox Command on the DS is basically what happens when you mix classic arcade dogfighting with a little bit of tactical overhead map stuff. You start off blasting through asteroid fields in the Arwing like the old games, but then it throws in this weird but kinda cool turn-based strategy layer where you plot your team’s routes across the map before each mission.
The touch controls take some getting used to—drawing loops on the screen to do barrel rolls feels awkward at first, but after a few missions, it clicks. And yeah, the story’s got multiple endings depending on your choices, which was a nice surprise for a StarFox game. Some of the writing’s cheesy, but in that nostalgic Nintendo way.
It’s not perfect—the missions can get repetitive, and the voice acting is… well, it’s StarFox. But if you’re into space shooters with a twist, it’s a solid pick for the DS.
