Remember Spot, that little red dot from the 7-Up ads? Well, he's back in Spot Goes to Hollywood, and this time he's jumping through movie sets like some kind of caffeinated platforming hero. The Sega Genesis version throws you right into these weirdly detailed Hollywood backlots—one minute you're dodging rolling boulders in an Indiana Jones parody, the next you're hopping across floating sushi in a samurai flick.
The controls feel a bit floaty at first (classic 90s platformer vibes), but once you get the hang of Spot’s weird little somersault jump, it’s weirdly satisfying. Some of the levels are tougher than they look—that haunted house stage had me retrying way more than I’d like to admit. And yeah, the soundtrack slaps. That cheesy synth rock theme still gets stuck in my head.
It’s not as tight as Cool Spot, but there’s something charming about how aggressively 90s it all is. If you’re into weird retro mascot games, this one’s a trip. Just watch out for the skateboarding rats. Seriously, what were they thinking with those?
