Man, Splatterhouse Part 2 on the Genesis is still one of the gnarliest beat 'em ups ever. You play as Rick, this hulking dude in a cursed mask, punching and chainsawing your way through waves of gross, twitching monsters to save your girlfriend. The first level alone throws rotting dogs, flying eyeballs, and these weird fleshy blobs at you—it’s like a B-horror movie come to life.
The controls are simple (mostly just mash attack and jump), but the real charm is how over-the-top everything is. Blood splashes everywhere, enemies explode into chunks, and the soundtrack’s all eerie synths and distant screams. It’s janky in that classic Genesis way—sometimes you’ll get hit by cheap shots, but who cares when you’re curb-stomping a zombie?
If you’re into retro horror or just want to wreck some mutants with a lead pipe, this one’s still a blast. Just don’t play it before bed unless you want nightmare fuel.
