Remember that old-school Sega Genesis beat 'em up where you could play as both Spider-Man and Venom? Yeah, this is the one—Max Carnage throws you right into the chaos of New York streets, swinging between lamp posts and punching through hordes of goons. The first thing you notice is how weighty Venom feels compared to Spidey's quicker moves—it actually makes switching between them matter.
Carnage is, of course, completely unhinged, and the boss fights get wild fast. Some of those later levels? Brutal. But there's something satisfying about the way thugs go flying when Venom lands a heavy hit. The soundtrack's got that grungy '90s vibe too—you'll recognize the red cartridge instantly if you had this back in the day.
It's not perfect (good luck with some of those cheap enemy spawns), but if you're into classic superhero brawlers, this one still holds up. Just don't expect to beat it in one sitting.
