I remember picking up Spider-Man: The Animated Series for the Sega Genesis back in 1995. It was developed by BlueSky Software, a name you'd see on a few other licensed titles from that period. This was a time when every cartoon seemed to get a side scrolling platformer, and this one landed right in the middle of that trend on the 16 bit consoles.

You control Spider-Man through a series of levels, moving screen by screen to fight various thugs and super villains. Your main goal is to stop the Kingpin and Carnage, which involves a lot of web swinging to navigate the environments and close quarters brawling. The combat is straightforward, relying on punches and kicks, but you also have your webbing to temporarily trap enemies from a distance. The pacing can feel a bit slow due to the methodical, screen clearing progression, and the difficulty spikes noticeably during some of the boss encounters. Ultimately, it feels like a straightforward adaptation that captures the look of the show, even if the action itself is a bit repetitive.
