About Spider-man And Venom ? Separation Anxiety
I first played Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety on the Sega Genesis back in 1995. It was developed by Software Creations, and it felt like a direct follow up to the Maximum Carnage game from a couple years earlier. This was during that era where licensed comic book games were everywhere on the 16-bit consoles, and this one stuck with its side scrolling brawler style.
You control either Spider-Man or Venom, fighting through city streets and laboratories. The main goal is to stop a new symbiote threat that has split into five separate creatures. You move screen by screen, clearing each area of enemies before you can proceed. A signature mechanic is the two player co op, letting a friend jump in as the other character to fight together. You also collect health pickups and temporary power ups dropped from defeated foes. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming constantly, and the difficulty can be punishing if you try to rush. Playing it feels like a chaotic, messy brawl where you are always outnumbered.
