Man, Maximum Carnage on the Genesis is one of those beat 'em ups that just feels like the comics—messy, chaotic, and weirdly satisfying. You start off swinging between Spider-Man and Venom, punching through waves of goons in that signature red-tinted New York. The first level throws you right into it: trash cans flying, thugs with bats, and that unmistakable 16-bit soundtrack blaring in the background.

It’s not exactly deep—you’re mostly mashing buttons and occasionally grabbing a health pickup—but there’s something about the way Venom’s tendrils whip across the screen or how Spidey’s web attacks barely give you breathing room. And Carnage? Dude’s a nightmare in the best way. The difficulty spikes hard by the third stage, so good luck if you’re playing without save states.

If you grew up with this one, the nostalgia hits hard. If not, it’s a solid time capsule of ‘90s comic book chaos. Just don’t expect a fair fight.
