Separation Anxiety came out for the Sega Genesis in 1995, developed by Software Creations. It was a follow up to Maximum Carnage, another Spider-Man and Venom team up on the same system. This was during that era where licensed comic book games were a regular sight on 16 bit consoles, often trying to capture the feel of the books with colorful sprites and straightforward action.

You control either Spider-Man or Venom, moving screen by screen through city streets and industrial areas. The main goal is to fight through waves of enemies, including the five new symbiotes, to stop their rampage. A signature mechanic is the two player co op, letting a friend jump in as the other hero. You can also collect tokens to summon an Avenger for a screen clearing assist attack. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming constantly, and the difficulty can feel punishing if you are not careful with your positioning and special moves. It feels like a chaotic brawl where you are always outnumbered, forcing you to use every trick to survive.
