Spider-Man: Web of Shadows on DS is one of those games that makes you forget how tiny the screen is. You start off swinging through a surprisingly detailed New York—well, as detailed as the DS can handle—and the controls actually make web-slinging feel pretty smooth. Combat’s got this combo system where you can bounce between enemies mid-air, which feels way cooler than it sounds.
What’s neat is the whole "light or dark" morality thing. You pick dialogue options that nudge Spidey toward being a classic hero or a more brutal vigilante, and it actually changes how some missions play out. I went full edgy black suit on my first run and regretted nothing. The story’s nothing groundbreaking, but hey, it’s Spider-Man punching symbiotes in a handheld—what more do you want?
Just don’t expect the open-world freedom of the console versions. This one’s more mission-based, but it works surprisingly well for quick sessions. If you’ve got a DS and even a passing interest in Spider-Man, it’s a solid way to kill some time.
