Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (simon Wai Prototype) Game

Ever wonder what Sonic 2 looked like before it was finished? This early prototype—nicknamed the Simon Wai version—is a weird, rough-around-the-edges peek into Sonic’s development. The levels are different (Chemical Plant Zone has this bizarre purple sky), some mechanics feel off, and Tails doesn’t even exist yet. It’s janky in that way only beta builds are, but if you’re into gaming history, it’s fascinating to see how much changed before the final release.
You’ll blast through familiar-but-not-quite-right zones, hit weirdly placed springs, and maybe even find a few unfinished enemy sprites. Just don’t expect it to play as smoothly as the classic we all know.
