If you grew up with a Sega Genesis, this DS collection hits right in the nostalgia. You get four classic Sonic games crammed into one cartridge—Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic & Knuckles—which means hours of loop-de-loops, spike traps, and that sweet, sweet ring-collecting chaos. The controls feel surprisingly solid on the DS, though I still panic and jump too early when Robotnik’s dropping those wrecking balls in Green Hill Zone.
What’s cool is you can play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 (originally a Genesis lock-on feature), and there’s a save-anywhere option, which is a lifesaver for handheld sessions. The screen’s a bit cramped compared to a TV, but after a few minutes, you’re back in the zone, bouncing off springs and cursing those underwater sections. It’s basically a pocket-sized time machine to 1991.
