Ever wish Zelda had more animals and slightly less sword-swinging? Soleil (or Crusader of Centy if you're not in Europe) is basically that—a top-down adventure where you team up with creatures instead of just hacking through everything. Your little fox buddy helps you dash, birds give you ranged attacks, and honestly, it’s way more charming than it has any right to be.
What’s wild is how the enemies aren’t just faceless monsters—some actually talk to you, and a few even make you question whether you should be fighting them at all. The Sega Genesis wasn’t exactly drowning in deep storytelling, so that alone makes it stand out. Just don’t expect Link to the Past levels of polish—the controls can feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to it, there’s a weirdly sweet adventure here.
Also, the soundtrack slaps. That’s non-negotiable.
