Slap Fight MD is one of those classic shoot 'em ups that flew under the radar back in the day—probably because it was Japan-only on the Genesis. You start off with this dinky little ship that feels way too slow, but then you grab power-ups and suddenly you're blasting through waves of enemies like a total beast. The weapon upgrades are wild—some turn your shots into these crazy spread patterns, others just melt bosses in seconds.
What I love is how it doesn’t hold your hand. No tutorials, no explanations—just you, a ton of bullets, and this weird satisfaction when you finally figure out which power-up combos actually work. The music’s got that classic arcade vibe too, all synthy and intense when things get chaotic. If you’re into old-school shmups with a steep but rewarding curve, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t blame me when you get obsessed with chasing high scores.
