Okay, so Skeleton Krew is one of those weirdly charming Genesis games that never got enough love. You play as a squad of undead mercenaries (yeah, skeletons with guns—don’t overthink it) blasting through creepy factories and graveyards packed with mutant monsters. The first level throws you right into it—zombies lurching at you, floating eyeballs that shoot lasers, the works.
What I like is how each skeleton has a different weapon—shotgun, flamethrower, even a weird drill thing. Took me a few tries to figure out which one suited my playstyle (flamethrower guy for life). The controls are a little stiff by today’s standards, but once you get the rhythm of dodging and shooting, it’s oddly satisfying. And the music? Pure 16-bit spooky bangers.
It’s not the hardest game out there, but some of those later bosses will wreck you if you’re not careful. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into weird retro action with a horror twist.
