Ever had one of those weird dreams where everything’s just… off? That’s basically Bart’s Nightmare in a nutshell. You start off as Bart falling asleep during homework (relatable), and suddenly you’re bouncing through Springfield’s streets as a giant floating head, dodging bullies and collecting pages of his ruined essay. Weird? Absolutely. Classic Simpsons? Oh yeah.
The game throws you into these bizarre mini-games—like a Godzilla-style rampage as Bartzilla or a side-scrolling Indiana Jones parody where you whip radioactive mutants. Some of them are janky (looking at you, Bartman level), but there’s something charming about how aggressively ‘90s it all feels. The music’s catchy, the sprites are chunky, and good luck figuring out what to do in the Itchy & Scratchy segment without trial-and-error.
It’s not the most polished Genesis title, but if you grew up with The Simpsons’ golden era, the sheer nostalgia might just carry you through the frustration. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—half the fun is stumbling into the weirdest corners of Bart’s subconscious.
