Shiten Myouou (japan) Game

Shiten Myouou is one of those weird, obscure Genesis/Mega Drive games that makes you go, "Wait, what is this?" It's a Japan-only action RPG with this bizarre mix of sword-slashing and spellcasting—you play as this warrior monk guy fighting through hordes of demons in feudal Japan. The controls take a minute to get used to (why does jumping feel so floaty?), but once you figure out the rhythm, there's something oddly satisfying about chaining attacks with those clunky-but-weighty sword swings.
Visually, it's got that gritty early '90s anime vibe—lots of dark temples, creepy enemies, and these weirdly detailed character portraits that look like they were pulled straight from an old manga. The music? All ominous chanting and deep drum beats, which actually works way better than it should. Not gonna lie, the English fan translation helps a ton if you actually want to follow the story.
It’s janky in that very specific way only forgotten Sega games can be, but if you’re into offbeat action RPGs, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
