Shining In The Darkness Easytype Game

Shining in the Darkness EasyType is one of those old-school dungeon crawlers that somehow still feels good to play today. You start off with a basic party—knight, mage, healer—and immediately get thrown into a maze of twisty corridors, all alike. The EasyType version tweaks the difficulty just enough that you’re not constantly running back to town to heal, but it still keeps that classic Sega Genesis challenge.
What I love is how simple but deep it is. You’ll be mapping out dungeons on graph paper (or just winging it and getting lost, like I did at first), grinding for better gear, and stumbling into boss fights that actually make you think. The pixel art has that warm, chunky 16-bit charm, and the music? Pure nostalgia—those synth trumpets hit different.
If you’ve ever played the original, this version smooths out some of the rougher edges without losing what made it special. And if you haven’t? It’s a great way to see where a lot of modern dungeon RPGs got their roots. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time down in those dark halls.
