Shanghai II on the Sega Genesis is one of those weirdly satisfying puzzle games where you match mahjong tiles to clear the board. It’s not the flashiest thing out there, but there’s something hypnotic about peeling away layers of tiles to uncover the dragon’s eye underneath.
The layouts start simple, but later stages get tricky—some tiles are buried under others, and if you’re not careful, you’ll block yourself. I remember getting stuck on one pattern for ages because I kept matching the wrong pairs early on. The music’s chill, though, so at least you won’t rage-quit.
If you’ve ever lost an hour to solitaire, this’ll scratch that same itch, just with fancier tiles.
