About Shane Warne Cricket
Shane Warne Cricket came out for the Sega Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive, in the 1990s. It was published by Audiogenic and arrived at a time when cricket games were still finding their footing on home consoles. This one stood out for trying to capture the sport's pace and strategy within the technical limits of the hardware.
You control the entire cricket team, handling both batting and bowling. The main goal is to outscore your opponent or bowl them out. Batting involves timing your shots with a cursor to place the ball into gaps, while bowling lets you select the type of delivery and aim its trajectory. Fielding is mostly automatic, but you can manually position fielders between overs. The game moves at a deliberate pace, mirroring a real match, and the difficulty comes from reading the bowler's variations and building an innings carefully. It feels like a thoughtful simulation where every run matters.
