So, Phantasy Star II: Kind’s Adventure is this weird little text adventure spin-off for the Genesis—yeah, a text adventure on a console best known for Sonic and Streets of Rage. You play as Kain, this engineer with a knack for blowing stuff up, and it’s basically a prequel to the main Phantasy Star II story. No fancy sprites or action here, just old-school menus and dialogue choices.
At first, it feels a bit clunky if you’re used to modern RPGs, but there’s something oddly charming about piecing together the lore before everything goes downhill in the main game. You’ll poke around Algol’s cities, make some questionable decisions (why did I trust that shady merchant again?), and yeah, eventually take on Mother Brain. It’s niche, but if you’re deep into Phantasy Star’s universe, it’s a neat time capsule.
