About [seganet] 16t (japan)

I picked up a copy of 16t for the Sega Genesis, a Japan-only release from around 1990. It was developed and published by Sega, landing right in the middle of the console's life when developers were experimenting with all sorts of concepts. This one definitely stands out for its premise.

You control a programmer who has jumped into his own computer system. Your main goal is to clear each stage by eliminating all the glitchy bugs. The core mechanic is using 16-ton weights; you position them above enemies and drop them to crush the targets. Movement is screen by screen, so you have to plan your drops carefully to avoid getting cornered by the spawning bugs. The pacing is methodical, almost like a puzzle, but the difficulty comes from the enemies quickly repopulating an area if you're not efficient. It feels like a tense, strategic cleanup job inside a digital world.
