Saturday Night Slammasters is one of those over-the-top wrestling games from the 90s where everything feels like a cartoon—and I mean that in the best way possible. The characters are ridiculous (one guy’s literally called El Stingray), the moves are exaggerated, and the crowd goes nuts when you pull off a suplex off the top rope. It’s not super deep, but the controls are simple enough that you can button-mash your way to victory while still feeling like a pro.
Playing on Genesis means the sprites are chunky but full of personality, and the announcer’s voice clips somehow make every match feel like a big deal. I spent way too many afternoons as a kid trying to unlock the secret characters—some of them are just glorified palette swaps, but who cares when you’re piledriving someone through the mat? If you’re into arcade-style wrestling with zero realism but maximum fun, this one’s a blast.
