If you're into classic strategy games with a historical twist, Romance of the Three Kingdoms III on the Sega Genesis is one of those deep, slow burns. You start off picking a warlord from China's Three Kingdoms era—Cao Cao, Liu Bei, or one of the lesser-known ones if you're feeling spicy—and then it's all about managing armies, diplomacy, and territory.
The first time I played, I spent way too long just staring at the map, trying to figure out whether to attack a neighboring province or butter up some allies first. The menus are dense, and the music has that old-school Sega vibe—kinda dramatic, kinda repetitive, but it grows on you. Battles are turn-based, and positioning matters more than you'd think at first glance.
It's not flashy by today's standards, but if you like games where you actually have to think three steps ahead, this one's got that in spades. Just don't expect it to hold your hand.
