Robocop 3 on the Genesis is exactly what you’d expect—a side-scrolling shooter where you stomp through Detroit blasting criminals with that satisfyingly chunky pistol. The first level throws you right into it: smashing through walls, dodging molotovs, and occasionally flipping your visor down for that sweet targeting mode. It’s janky in that classic early-90s way, but the weight of Robocop’s movement actually feels right—like you’re a tank in human(ish) form.
They did tweak the graphics from the earlier games—more detailed sprites, better explosions—but don’t expect miracles. The soundtrack’s all muffled bass and synth, which somehow works when you’re mowing down goons in a convenience store. And yeah, there’s a jetpack level later. It controls like a shopping cart on ice, but hey, it’s a jetpack. If you grew up with this era of licensed games, it’s a weirdly comforting time capsule.
Just don’t go in expecting deep lore. You’re basically a walking turret with a moral compass.
