Man, Rise of the Robots was supposed to be this huge deal back in the day—flashy ads, promises of AI that would learn your moves and counter them. Spoiler: it didn’t. You play as this cyborg named ECO35-2 (cool name, zero personality) punching through waves of robots, and yeah, the fights look decent for a Genesis game. Chunky sprites, some nice metallic clangs when you land hits.
But here’s the thing: the AI isn’t smart, just cheap. You’ll see the same patterns over and over, and the difficulty spikes feel random. The Supervisor boss at the end? Kind of a letdown after all the hype. Still, if you’re into ’90s robot brawlers for the nostalgia, it’s got a weird charm. Just don’t expect the revolution they promised.
