Rings of Power came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by Mindscape. You control your magician directly, moving screen by screen across an overworld and into towns and dungeons. The main goal is to gather the scattered rings that form the Rod of Creation to defeat the Void. You explore towns to talk with people and get clues, fight monsters in turn-based battles where positioning matters, and delve into multi-level dungeons full of traps and secrets. The game is notoriously difficult, with a high random encounter rate and dungeons that can feel like mazes.
