About Rick Dangerous
I first played Rick Dangerous on the Flash Classic platform, a version that brought the 1989 original to web browsers. It was developed by Core Design and published by Firebird Software, a game that fit right into the late 80s platformer scene on home computers. You control Rick, an explorer who looks a lot like Indiana Jones, and you guide him through ancient temples and enemy bases filled with traps.
Your goal is to navigate each screen carefully, avoiding spikes, rolling boulders, and enemy guards. You move Rick with the arrow keys and use the control key with directional inputs to fire your gun, place bombs, or poke with a stick. The game progresses screen by screen, and you must memorize trap locations and enemy patterns because mistakes are punished instantly. It feels tense and deliberate, demanding patience and precise timing with every step you take.
