Final Fight came out in 1990 as a Flash Classic from Capcom. It was a time when arcade cabinets were everywhere, and this game fit right in with its big, colorful characters and loud sound effects. Originally, it was planned as a sequel to Street Fighter, but the developers changed direction and created this instead, focusing on a simpler, more direct brawling style.

You control one of three characters, like Cody, a guy trying to rescue his girlfriend from the Mad Gear gang. You walk from left to right, clearing each screen of enemies before moving on. Your main actions are punching and kicking, but you can also grab foes, throw them, or use special attacks that drain a bit of your health. The game is fast and often difficult, with enemies swarming you from all sides. It feels satisfying to land a solid combo and hear that crunch, even when you know the next wave is just around the corner.
