About Revolution X
Revolution X came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that wave of arcade ports trying to capture the feel of the coin-op cabinets at home. The game stands out for its bizarre premise, even among the many action titles of that era.
You control a character fighting through a dystopian America ruled by the evil A.N.T.I. organization. Your main goal is to rescue the members of the band Aerosmith, who have been kidnapped. The gameplay is an on-rails shooter; you move a targeting cursor across the screen, shooting waves of enemies and destructible objects. You collect CDs to power up your weapon and rescue civilians for extra lives. The action is relentless and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies swarming from all sides. It feels like a chaotic, slightly janky trip through a music video gone wrong.
