About Ranger-x (europe)
Ranger-X came out in 1993 for the Sega Genesis, developed by Gau Entertainment and published by Sega. It was part of that wave of later Genesis titles that really pushed the hardware, offering a fast, detailed look at what the console could do.
You control a soldier on foot, but the real star is the Exerion, a powerful mech you can pilot or send ahead independently. Your goal is to fight through five stages of alien landscapes, destroying the Edgezone terrorist forces. The dual control of the ranger and his mech is the core mechanic; you can jump out to access narrow passages on foot while the Exerion provides air support. The game scrolls continuously, and the challenge is managing both units under heavy fire from ground and air enemies. It feels like a demanding, coordinated assault where every second counts.
