Race Drivin' on the Sega Genesis is one of those early 3D racers that feels janky now but was mind-blowing back in the day. The polygons are chunky, the physics are weirdly floaty, and the steering takes some getting used to—but there’s something oddly satisfying about wrestling with the controls to nail a drift around those blocky corners.

You’ve got a few tracks to choose from, including a stunt course with loops and jumps that’s way more fun than it has any right to be. The cockpit view is cool in theory, but good luck seeing anything with that massive steering wheel taking up half the screen. Stick with the bumper cam unless you love a challenge.

It’s definitely not the smoothest racer out there, but if you’re into retro games with personality (and a healthy dose of frustration), this one’s worth a few laps.
